About Ron’s Homestyle Foods
Ron was part of the first Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchise group in Texas.
In the spring of 1985, Ron Woodall started Ron’s Home Style Foods with a mission to create high-quality, home-style deli salads that look and taste homemade.
Prior to starting Ron’s Home Style Foods, Ron developed the highly successful “Ron’s Krispy Fried Chicken” chain, which he sold in 1983. Ron’s Krispy Fried Chicken was well known for its high-quality fried chicken and delicious side orders, including potato salad, coleslaw, and barbecue beans. Ron produced all three salads in the house because commercially prepared salads available from foodservice distributors were poor in appearance and lacked fresh taste.
After selling Ron’s Krispy Fried Chicken, Ron searched for another food service opportunity. The more he considered his options, the more he realized the market needed higher-quality prepared deli salads. After surveying the market for prepared deli salads and talking with many fellow foodservice operators, Ron came to the conclusion that commercially prepared deli salads did not look or taste homemade and many operators did not buy commercially prepared deli salads due to the lack of quality in appearance and taste. Ron believed that if he had concerns over the quality of freshness and appearance of commercially prepared deli salads, other foodservice operators must be experiencing the same problems.
Starting with only three salads 30 years ago, Ron’s Home Style Foods is still family-owned and now has over 50 varieties of high-quality refrigerated prepared deli salads, spreads, desserts, bases, dressings, and frozen side dishes. Joined by his son, Steve, and grandson, Brandon, Ron’s remains a family affair and our focus remains on producing high-quality foods. The product line is continually expanding with fresh new products and ideas to accommodate the changing needs of customers in both retail and food service.
